The Cover of The Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work

If Lee could only recommend one marriage book to struggling couples, it would be this one. Gottman resources are not Christian but are compatible with a biblical worldview, and they offer tons of practical insights and tools!

The Cover of Practicing the Way

The most comprehensive and practical modern tools Lee has ever seen to help people build their lives around the way of Jesus. They have a suite of online resources too at practicingtheway.org. The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry is also a helpful supplementary resource from Comer.

The Cover of Unoffendable

One of the most challenging books Lee has ever read, this one takes aim at Christians' sense of entitlement to (righteous) anger and offense, advocating instead for forgiveness and also godly action/response.

The Cover of Fight Right

Another great Gottman resource, this book includes gems like the positivity ratio and the Fight Right Quick Guide, which alone is worth the price of purchase; it can help couples navigate tricky conversations in real-time.

The Cover of No-Drama Discipline

Parenting is notoriously complex, but this secular book has done a beautiful job combining modern practical insights into a parenting philosophy that looks remarkably like how Jesus treats us.

The Cover of The Practice of the Presence of God

Written 300 years ago but frequently cited today, this book shares the joy, peace, and wisdom of a monk especially known for his daily communion with God. A beautiful read sure to deepen your faith.

The Cover of Hold Me Tight

An absolute game-changer for approaching difficult conversations, this book helps people access the hurt, insecurity, and fear that derails conflict so they are closer afterward. Also not a Christian resource.

The Cover of Boundaries

An incredibly potent blend of biblical truth and clinical best practice, this book sometimes oversimplifies issues but ultimately convicts and pushes people toward Jesus, who himself exhibited excellent boundaries.

The Cover of ADHD is Awesome

This secular resource does not come from a clinical perspective, although it does include some expert input. Instead, it shares a delightfully real, hopeful, empowering view of ADHD for people with ADHD and their loved ones.

From Lee

The cover of Genuine Miracles, a book by Lee Freeman

Written before Lee was a counselor, this book is a project God put on Lee's heart to compile true stories from real people, most of whom live in Northern Colorado! Due to some mature themes like death, this book may not be appropriate for young children. If you are wondering if God still works miracles, this is the book for you! In Genuine Miracles, Lee especially focuses on God's love for each individual. This book is a great faith booster for those who doubt (which — let's be honest — is all of us at times).

Lee had the opportunity to deliver a sermon at Ascent Project Church, where he talked about God's call to care for the most vulnerable people in our society, especially through foster care and adoption. While he referenced several scriptures, the parable of the good Samaritan was central to his message. Spoiler alert: you'll never forget his Mickey Mouse impression!

Lee was invited to give a message at Timberline Windsor for their Orphan Care Sunday. This sermon incorporates insights Lee has gained from counseling and from work in the foster system to share the "Parable of the Four Knives," an analogy Lee uses to discuss issues of spiritual maturity and health in Christ.

Foundations Church asked Lee to appear on several special episodes of their podcast as a compliment to their sermon series on mental health. Lee shares his experience and perspective as a Christian counselor in these interview-style, unscripted conversations.
